France Bourély received her Ph. D. in pharmaceutical studies from the University of Paris and M.A. in science from the University of California at Berkeley, where she first discovered the scanning electron microscope. Since 1994, she has applied her scientific knowledge to the art of the “invisible”, a largely unexplored and infinitely small territory. Winner of a Leitz photographic prize, her work has been shown in more than twenty-five exhibitions around the world.
